My abstractions actually are informed by these studies, (there will have been 11 of them) so I decided to include them in the same process of one submission a day.  The first one I posted today I realize is not so pretty, but the placement of the spoon shapes involved really letting go of control, I tossed them in the air and where they fell, they were glued.  Anyhow, the coming days will show some great techniques I learned and I will try to describe them in the comments.  Most of them explore some element of chance.  Also, I realize this is a collage and not a painting, but I preferred the description of 'Surreal' for categorizing.

So, the plain air paintings are all submitted and now, I have to try to put the abstracts into some kind of logical order.  We began by abstracting from observation, so these next few are clearly recognizable and not so abstract.   Also, my minor was in sculpture, so I'll throw a few in if I can get some good photos.

I am about to skip ahead and add some newer works that I need for my DA portfolio.  So, you are about to see the end result of the evolution.   These are abstractions based on emotion but I clearly never quite leave the landscape.  After all, it is the ground of our reality.  :-) *tomorrow- I go back to the pain staking chronological order.
